Character Name: Berwald Oxstierna
Country:Sweden
Age: 28
Position: Care of Magical Creatures/ Groundskeeper
Gender: Male
Personality: Berwald is quiet, solemn, taciturn, and very tall. These things have combined to make him somewhat of a loner, as even people who interact with him on a daily basis have trouble looking past his ominous demeanor and it's hard to make friends with someone when they flinch away from you all the time.
Once he does make friends though, he is very protective of them. He likes kids and has a strong, if pragmatic sense of justice. It's very hard to ruffle his feathers, but if you do manage to get him upset he's even scarier. He enjoys working with his hands and being outdoors.
Background: Raised by b'ars in a scary magic wood. totally. or at least, that's what he tells his students.
Berwald was born to Muggle parents, and isn't the strongest, magically. Muggle kids could tell there was something weird about him, but he never really had anything extremely strange happen except around animals, so he was never swept up and forced to the mountaintop institute.
He didn't really learn about wizarding world and it's drama until he encountered a resistance group. He slowly taught himself some magic in secret until he was old enough to be useful, and joined the resistance around 14. Having lived in the muggle world for most of his life he didn't have many connections, but he knew wrong when he saw it.
Once everything calmed down he was given a position at Hogwarts. When he is not attending to his duties as a teacher or groundskeeper he studies to try to make up for the formal wizarding education he never received.
RP Sample:
Berwald looked out the window, fidgeting and uncomfortable in his school desk. He was too tall for the desk, growing faster than whatever designer had made it thought an 11 year old should, and didn't really care about the poem the teacher was droning on about.
The window, and the outside world in general, were generally a better bet if he actually wanted to learn something. Just the other day he'd found this weird looking newt that he'd been able to use to light fires. Much more interesting than Significant Poems that Meant Something.
His eyebrows furrowed. There were people out in the street, just beyond the schoolyard's chainlink fence- he didn't know why they were wearing robes and holding sticks, but it certainly didn't look like the much larger mob of angry-looking people chasing them had costume parties in mind. He raised his hand, hulking over the other students as the teacher trailed off.
"C'n I have th' bathroom pass? It's 'n emerg'ncy."
...maybe the people chasing down two lone kids would like to meet his new friend the weird-looking fire-newt. Much more interesting.
