Character Name: Raivis Galante
Country: LATVIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
Age: He’s only fourteen!! Leave him alone!
House: Huffl- Ravenclaw.
Gender: MALE. Man. Boy. Not a woman.
Height/Weight: 5’1”/ (HE STILL NEEDS TO GROW!!) 130pds (Most of that is cause he can’t stop shaking.)
Skill: He is an amazing writer.
Pets: He keeps a small green frog that he named Trollis.
Personality: A sniveling crybaby with a knack of getting himself into bad relationships and bad situations. He was bullied quite a bit when he was younger, and has absolutely no idea how to stand up for himself. His immediate reaction to a bully is to start crying and hide behind his brother Eduard. Or if Eduard isn’t around, to sink into himself and start crying and shaking. Actually, Raivis is constantly shaking. He almost has a permanent shake that he cannot stop. Mainly because he is always afraid of someone larger and stronger than him coming to get him. His constant woes leave him an easy target, and on top of that, have turned him into quite the drinker. At fourteen years old, he already has a high tolerance, and a bad habit of hiding liquor in his trunk… it is very easy to tell when he hasn’t had alcohol in a long time, because his shivers intensify and he will often hide away in the bathrooms crying for no reason.
As mentioned earlier, Raivis can’t stand well on his own. He relies too much on the help of others to get him through school because he doesn’t do very well academically, although his magic is actually fairly strong. It’s just that Raivis simply lacks the self-confidence to keep it controlled very well, and is often times causing bad explosions and creating a mess of himself.
But it isn’t all bad! Raivis is a very sweet, although extremely blunt kid, who despite all of his own insecurities and problems, is always willing to help out his friends to the best of his abilities. He isn’t very good at advice giving due to his extreme bluntness, but he will always listen to his friends problems, without complaining about his own.
Those close to him also know that he is quite the romantic, and if they were to open up the chest by his bed they’d find a bunch of worn out romance novels that he has read many, many times, along with a small just as worn out journal, filled with colorful poems and stories. He likes to read and often times gets in trouble for skipping class to read the latest romances.
Background: When you look at Raivis’ personality, you’d think the boy had a traumatizing childhood, but that isn’t really the case. His home life was fairly comfortable. His parents were generally good to him, and they always tried to give him and his brother Eduard what they could. They weren’t exactly rich… and in fact, they were quite poor, but food was never short, and the family usually knew how to go without.
But it wasn’t until around Raivis’ eighth birthday that his mother found out his father owed money to some bad people, because of the goons that began to swarm around his house. They soon began to bully his father into paying them back the money or they would take both him and his brother away. But being so young, Raivis immediately began to develop a fear for those larger than him because of this.
Even after the men stopped coming around, and his life went back to normal, Raivis’ nervousness carried over with him into his school. Other kid’s began to notice this, and very quickly they started to take advantage of it. They started to pick on him at any chance they got, and they called him names and made him do things that he didn’t wish to do. The picking was so intense one time, that his brother, Eduard noticed, and rescued him from it. This probably wasn’t the best of ideas on his part though, because Raivis took this an open invitation to use his brother as a shield.
Eventually Raivis got to the point where he was completely reliant upon his older brother to protect him, that when Eduard was invited to attend a wizarding school, Raivis begged and pleaded for him not to go. But off he went anyways, and the poor boy was left alone. It was during this time that Raivis began to drink a lot more heavily, (He drank lightly before, despite that he was still much too underage!) and developed his shaking tendencies. He missed school whenever he could to avoid the teasing, and the two school years without his brother ended up being extremely stressful and scary for this little guy, and by the time Eduard returned after his second year for the summer, he came home to a very distressed kid who lacked motivation.
But luckily enough for little Raivis, he got an invite to the same school Eduard attended that summer, and he doesn’t have to worry about the kids picking on him anymore… right? Right!?
RP Sample: Raivis let out a loud deep sigh, feeling the shivers shake off of his body all at once, before they started up again, this time even worse than they were before. Why was he always nervous? Why did he always feel like someone was coming to attack him? He may have been small, but he wasn’t that small that he was unable to defend himself. And some of the teachers told him that he gathered up the confidence than he’d be quite the magician. So why couldn’t he believe it himself? He needed to work harder! He needed to become stronger to make his brother proud and not always exhausted with him. He wanted to be stronger so that one day he would have someone to protect. He hated feeling like some cheesy story book character that always needed protecting all the time. He needed to stop sniveling all the time and actually be of some use to someone.
CROAK! CROAK!
Some small animal noise cut through his thoughts. His heart suddenly jumped a few beats and he slammed the rum he had been drinking back into the chest it belonged in. He’d head of the teachers who could change into animals… and he wasn’t exactly sure which ones did, and what animals they changed into… but he really didn’t feel like getting caught, and having to explain himself… or getting expelled and having to go back home or something.
CROAKCROAKCROAK!!
Okay he really needed to stop thinking so much, because it seemed like this frog was determined to stop him ever-
CROAK!CROAK!CROAK!CROAK!CROAK!CROAK!
“Shut up you stupid frog!” Raivis shouted, feeling his eyes tear up, “I don’t enjoy your croaking cutting me off so much!”
CROAK!
Okay. THAT was the final straw. Raivis began to search the dorm for the culprit. It absolutely had to be inside, what with the volume it was croaking at. He decided to check under the beds when he didn’t see it with a few quick glances. Luckily for him, he saw the culprit easily in a few seconds, along with another culprit… a large cat, and a small frog. He watched them sitting very still a moment, before the frog made to bounce away, and the cat pounced. Raivis himself let out a gasp, seeing as how the bounce was… right for his face after all… and also, he couldn’t let that cat kill the poor frog!
As the cat made to pounce the frog again, Raivis pulled up his hand to swat at it.
“Why don’t you pick on someone your own size!?” He slapped at the cat again, and swiped the small bright green frog into his hand, “Shoo cat! Shoo!” Raivis’ insistent swatting seemed to work, and it wasn’t long before the cat bounded away and dashed out of the room.
Raivis then pulled himself up onto his bed, and held the frog up to his face, “You look like you could use a little help…” And he knew just the guy for the job too. Sniffling deeply, and using the back of his free hand to rub at his eye, he decided that he would keep this little guy as a pet. He had saved it from a bully after all, and it needed his help! He couldn’t let it down! He could protect this frog with all his heart! He would be its smarter and less afraid older brother who would make sure that no one picked on him ever again.
Raivis knew that most people would probably give him funny looks about feeling so strongly about a small frog…but maybe keeping this little creature safe would help himself as much as it would help the frog.
